Reasons Why You Shouldn't Wear Bra While Sleeping!


It’s a common matter of debate wearing bra at night, during the private talks of women. If you ask this question to 10 or more women, no doubt, you will get 10 or more different answers. But, ask any experts, they will say that wearing bra while sleeping is not a problem, if you’re wise in selecting comfortable one. 





We know that some women feel more comfortable in wearing bra while sleeping, while some are tensed about the health effects of wearing bra while sleeping. If you choose a non-underwire bra, lightweight or camisole-style pajama tops with inbuilt bra, you can get a comfortable sleep.



While choosing your bra, that one should not be too tight and stiff. It is all the matter of personal choice, when it comes to wearing bra. But, the type or size of bra may make things worse when you choose wrong one.

Women who are pregnant and breastfeeding, for them wearing a comfortable bra is found to be helpful. However, because of the adverse health effects of wearing bra while sleeping; tight, fit and uncomfortable bra is not recommended.


If you are using underwire tight bra, here are some of the most common health effects that you may face by wearing bra while sleeping.

#Reduce circulation: It may cause a hindrance to the free blood circulation in wearing bra while sleeping. This will happen if you are wearing an underwire or elastic bra with tight fitting. Sports bra is better for more comfortable.

#Pigmentation: Continuous use of bra and wearing bra while sleeping will cause pigmentation in the portion where the elastic is tighter. Use a soft and loose bra, to avoid any health effects of wearing bra while sleeping.

#Disturbed sleep: A good and sound sleep has a direct relation with your comfort level in bed, there is no doubt. This will certainly disturb your sleep if you are wearing an uncomfortable tight bra. 


#Skin irritation: We have seen on skin that tight fitting bra is the reason for skin irritation. It’s better to not use underwire bra. Sports bra is considered a good option to wear during the night. Using sports bra will give the necessary support to your breast, without causing any health effects. 



#Restlessness: A tight bra while sleeping can be irritating, making you restless in the night. It can cause discomfort during your sleep, which will adversely affect your overall health. An underwire bra could also dig into your breast.

#Oedema: In daily routine of using tight bra, it may cause lymphatic blockage. Due to this, many other signs associated with the blockage will be presented. This includes fluid accumulation or oedema in the breasts. This is very serious health effects of wearing bra while sleeping.

#Sweating: While sleeping wearing a tight bra, especially in the summer will make you sweat more than usually. Often fancy bras are the culprit in this case. Prefer a cotton bra than polyester or linen.


#Cancer: While reading on internet, we all have that question in mind that ‘Will wearing bra while sleeping cause breast cancer' is still a topic of debate and research. There are different studies and researches that propose and oppose the chance of developing breast cancer by the use of a tight fitting bra during the night.


#Non cancerous lumps: Cysts and lumps are noncancerous lumps of tissue that can be formed in any part of your body. Dr. John McDougall writing in "The McDougall Program for a Healthy Heart" suggests that bra constriction causes inflammation and improper drainage resulting in benign lumps.
